What is anxiety?

Phobias: A phobia can be defined as irrational fear of an object, condition or a situation. Phobias are of different kinds. One can be afraid of petty things such as insects while other may feel excessive fear about crowded places or closed doors. These phobias are called specific or social phobias, which cause abnormal behavior.
Sometimes day-to-day tensions cause horrible physical conditions such as heart palpitations, severe headaches, heavy breathing, shakiness, nausea, and giddiness. These are most common among women. A research shows that women get anxious more easily than men.
Excessive anxiety also causes psychological problems. The person becomes reserved, feels lonely, and gets irritable easily.
The individual becomes a prey to obsessive-compulsive disorder. The person feels very insecure and repeatedly does petty things for example after locking the door checking it a dozen times whether it is locked or not.

Causes of anxiety:
There are countless factors that can cause anxiety. Some of the general ones are:
Anti- depressants: it is true that anti-depressants can are a treatment for anxiety, but sometimes overdose or addiction of anti-depressants can cause further and more adverse problems.
Sometimes anxiety is genetically transferred.
Family crisis or work related problems can be very destructive.

Treatment:
Counseling can be productive at the primary level. However high levels of anxiety may require special attention and treatment. Psychologists and researchers have come up with effective psychotherapies. Cognitive-behavioral therapy is one such therapy. Other technique of curing an anxious mind is making it relax. Relaxation can establish calm and content results. Exercising also keeps one healthy and hearty.
By and large taking good care of one, physically and mentally can be the most excellent way of avoiding anxiety and problems arising because of it.
